My name is Ana Irizarry (she/her). I believe people have a light within them that at times can get covered up with clouds of confusion, challenging life experiences, loss, or trauma. In psychotherapy, we work together within a safe, professional, and therapeutic relationship to help clear away the clouds and let your internal light shine through. I see my role as that of assisting you in your path of self-discovery, self-compassion, healing, and growth, within a space of emotional safety and acceptance.
I work with adults of all ages who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, loss, grief, confusion, life transitions, or trauma. I also help individuals who want to feel more connection and fulfillment in their life. I work with parents wanting more positive interactions with their children or adolescents. Many of the parents who meet with me have children struggling with ADHD, behavioral difficulties, anxiety, depression, or transitions. I see individuals of different races, cultures, ethnicities, nationalities, gender identities, and sexual orientation.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Texas. I am a Nurtured Heart Approach (NHA) Advanced Trainer, and I am trained in Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I received a master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Tufts University. For over thirty years I have worked with children, families, and adults in various settings including foster care, schools, nonprofit counseling centers, and private practice. I am actively engaged in professional development and regularly participate in conferences, workshops, and in study and consultation groups to continue to enhance my effectiveness.
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and provide all services in English and Spanish.
